as i sit her on saturday morning in our apartment -- yes, the apartment with the loud neighbors -- i realize how much is sucks that we didn't start packing earlier. but, out of fear that we would be all ready to move and then something would happen to our new home, we didn't pack a thing. extremely stupid of us.
however, we do have a ton of boxes.
we had planned on spending last night new house, but that was changed. we are both working extremely hard at work and have found that our work/life balance is suffering a bit. me more so than dave. dave works late a lot because i work late. us missing one day of work this week for the closing, threw me into a tailspin at the office.
but i said i am not going to talk about work here...
so last night our plans were changed and we spent the night here at the apartment. when i woke up i was like "damn! i don't want to be here anymore!" really. who would want to be in a cramped one bedroom first floor apartment when they own a beautiful townhome a couple miles away? the only good thing about this morning was our neighbors must have slept in, moved or gotten notice from the apartment complex that people had complained about them. but seriously. i am ready to move.
but before we move in we have to get some things done in the home. the first on the list being new carpet upstairs (2nd floor) where the bedrooms are. we think that the carpet there now could be the original carpet that they put in when they built the town home 20 years ago. so today dave and i have appointment with two carpet places to look at and price out the project.
before moving in we have to get the air ducts cleaned too. the previous owners had buff the cat. dave is allergic to buff. so we have the air duct cleaning people coming out to the house in a week. after the air ducts are cleaned, we then have to coordinate the carpet cleaners to come in and professionally clean the finished basement where there is carpet that we are not replacing.
so my goal is that after all these primary steps are completed, we will move. heck, as soon as the air ducts are cleaned i am ready to move. even if that means we live on the main level for a couple of weeks (which is all wood floor) until the bedrooms are re-carpeted! it isn't like we own any furniture for the main level yet (living room, dining room, kitchen).
then we have a ton of painting to do. initially we were going to do all the painting and other minor things while we were still living here in the apartment. i don't know about dave, but i am ready to go and don't care if we are painting around the minimal furniture that we currently own.
then comes dave's favorite part - buying new furniture. we are going to do this slowly and over the course of some time, but i have to tell you dave and i have visited every furniture store in a 10 mile radius of where we live. dave has sat on every sectional sofa. multiple times. and we still haven't made a decision yet.
well, i better go get ready for the day of carpet shopping. wow. i just felt really old. i mean i went to bed early so i could get a good nights sleep to be ready for carpet shopping. ugh.
happy home improving,
